Can a single Tree succeed in saving us?
Where do we position ourselves in front of it?
What kind of call invades us when we observe it?
Giorgio Debernardi is a Sirio-Italian musician-composer professionally engaged in social matters. Through his first work of immersive acoustic music, he seeks to explore his personal relationship with the figure of the Tree.
The result is a "light" album titled Shajara (Tree in Arabic), consisting of 8 tracks, where rhythmic cyclicity, cultural influences, and persistent melodies attempt to lead the listener into a form of listening aimed at recovering
a "slow and generative" time.
Thus, the Shajara Ensemble project comes to life, featuring the participation of several musicians: Marco Bellafiore (Double Bass), Alan Brunetta (Percussion, Marimba, Rhodes), and Matteo Cigna (Vibraphone, Marimba, Balafon), in addition to Giorgio Debernardi (Acoustic Guitar, Weissenborn, Daf, Sansula, Chromatic Kalimba, Choruses). The project also includes the collaboration of various artists, both local and from other cultures: Guy Buttery (Guitar - South Africa), Nadine Jeanne (Voice - Germany/French), Luca Benedetto (Trumpet - Italy), Elena Russo (Kora - Italy), Carla Azzaro (Calabas - Italy).
The album was primarily recorded at the "Attimo Recording" studio in Cafasse (TO) by sound engineer Dario Mecca Aleina and at the "Bonzo the Cat" studio by musician and composer Alan Brunetta in San Mauro T.se (TO). The mastering was handled by Gianni Vallino
